Computer Repair Technicians (Refurbishment)

Description

Renewed Computer Technology is a not for profit organization which manages a number of programs, the largest of which is the Computers For Schools program in Ontario.

RCT is looking for individuals to fill the position of Computer Repair Technicians (Refurbishment) to work at our Refurbishment Centre located in Niagara-on-the-Lake.

The position involves the refurbishment of donated computers for distribution to Schools and Charities throughout Ontario.

Main Responsibilities:

Inspect and test computer equipment and assemblies
Adjust, align, replace or repair computer equipment, assemblies and software
Diagnose and locate computer component equipment faults
Install computer software programs

Qualification and Experience:

Must have some post secondary education, preferably in IT
Any IT certification such as A+ is an asset
A minimum of 6 – 12 months experience is preferred.

Knowledge and skills

Strong computer hardware and software knowledge
Good communication skills
Be able to work in a team environment
Attention to detail
Physically able to lift computers and monitors

Program requirements:
This position is a HRSDC funded program under the Youth Employment Strategy program and has strict qualifying criteria as follows:

Applicants must be between the ages of 16 and 30 years
Must be a student currently enrolled in a post-secondary institution OR a youth who has completed at least 1 course at a university or other post-secondary institution
A Canadian citizen, permanent resident or person who has been granted refugee status in Canada
Legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial legislation and regulations
Must not be previous participants in a HRSDC youth funded program
Not in receipt of Employment Insurance (EI) benefits

Contract term: Approximately 6 – 7 months
Salary: $12.00 per hour (37.5 hour work week)
